It was just a conversation in
Grand Central Station
One day
I'd lost my occupation
Didn't have no destination
Anyway
When it all got too boring
I gave you my shoes
And you left me there with the
Barefoot Blues
Slapp Happy: Just A Conversation (Link)
Note: Peter Blegvad described Slapp Happy’s music as “Naïve-Rock; the Douanier Rousseau sound,”and it has taken me years to finally integrate and accept that. Slapp Happy’s somewhat depressive, lightly melancholy records should have been big but never were. But unlike so many others, they never wore out their welcome and never will.
